Garnerbiker's Journey on planet Earth

This blog started as a trip journal for the summer of 2011 Europe trip of 69 days. My wife Katherine, and I decided to use the entire summer break that teachers get, and go crazy. Everything was new to us. I was surprised at the blog's following. It has now become a tradition to travel on our breaks and blog about it. I write mostly as a journal for myself and students, but also give travel ideas to others that might want to travel like us, or go to the places we have seen. Take a look at what's on here. The experiences that I have had through travel are continuously shaping my life. I recommend you get out there and do it!

Arrival in North Carolina

We departed Manassas, Virginia at 6:30am like expected for the 6 hour drive to Morehead City, North Carolina.  The house is situated in Atlantic Beach, right on the water.  I can't think of a better beach house to spend our time.  The house belongs to one of Michael's friends who graciously made it available for us for the week.  We are more than thankful!

Here we are at a gas station along the way.  Yes, a Powerball ticket please!

Katherine is laying out her gear getting ready to take it to the dive boat.

This is the 20mm gun from the U-352 on the dock of the Olympus Dive shop.  Hopefully weather will work out and we can get to the dive site!

Me with the boss of the sea, Neptune/Poseidon.  Oh, please grant us safe passage to and from the dive sites.

Discussing the dive plan for the next day.

Bring it!  Tanks are ready to rock.  Gear is situated.  Let's get some sleep and hit it!

Check in at the shop went well and tomorrow will be our first dives in North Carolina.  Everyone is extremely excited and let's see what tomorrow brings.
