Garnerbiker's Journey on planet Earth

This blog started as a trip journal for the summer of 2011 Europe trip of 69 days. My wife Katherine, and I decided to use the entire summer break that teachers get, and go crazy. Everything was new to us. I was surprised at the blog's following. It has now become a tradition to travel on our breaks and blog about it. I write mostly as a journal for myself and students, but also give travel ideas to others that might want to travel like us, or go to the places we have seen. Take a look at what's on here. The experiences that I have had through travel are continuously shaping my life. I recommend you get out there and do it!

New video clip

I had a little time to put this together on the train. We were in route from Hue to Nha Trang and I needed something to do in the 13 hours. The video is just a compilation of the movies from the camera. It starts in Bangkok and ends in Hanoi. Not much in 3 min, but there are some funny scenes and people I have been talking about in the blog. Enjoy.

  1. Normally I love to comment and respond but ever since the extraordinary elephant rescue report, these photos and descriptions have left me SPEECHLESS - in a GOOD way! First off, the photo quality and subject choice is worthy of National Geographic. Next, your adventures are unique and appealing - things I would choose to do if I were there. Including descriptions of the food really puts me there, too. I am delighted that you have kept this going throughout a jam-packed itinerary. Each day I have a Pavlovian response to checking my email, elated each time Garnerbiker appears! Summer's only 2/3 over...this travelogue has extended and expanded my sense of vacation. How do you say thank you in Vietnamese or the Thai language? I guess YIPPEEE will have to suffice, from this backseat traveler!
